7 Secrets on how to keep your carpet beautiful. #1: Select a professional cleaning company

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Select a company based on these criteria:

  • Reputation. Check references and find out which other companies use their service. Also check with the Better Business Bureau to see if they have any unresolved complaints. Mr. Steam’s Valley Steam is recommended by some of the finest flooring retailers and contractors in the valley. We are members of the Better Business Bureau in great standing.
  • Education. Sadly, many cleaning companies have never been formally educated or trained in the field they are working in. State laws do not require a certification before a liscense is given. Therefore, it is up to the homeowner to make sure they are hiring a trained professional. It doesn’t matter if they have 20 years of experience if it is 20 years of untrained experience. Mr. Steam’s Valley Steam is certified by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning Restoration Certification) in the areas of carpet cleaning, upholstery, fine rug cleaning, and deodorization.
  • Experience. We have seen every type of clean-up condition in the 33 years we have been in business.
  • Systems. Our cleaning systems are the most state-of-the-art in the industry. We employ over $100,000 of the best equipment to give you the most thorough cleaning.
  • Guarantee. Our guarantees are the best in the valley.

Is your flooring a commodity or an investment?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Would you be surprised to learn that flooring is the third largest single investment made by most people? Your home and your automobile may be the only two larger single investments before your carpet or floor.

Sure, if you add up all of your furniture and other valuables, they may add up to more than what your floor cost, but as a single stand alone investment, it ranks. The question is, do you treat it that way? How do you get the most out of your investment?
You maintain your investment, right? You maintain your home so that it will retain it’s value. You maintain your vehicle by changing the oil on a regular basis to avoid costly repairs. Your carpet is the same way. It should be maintained through regular vacuuming, prompt spot removal, regular professional cleaning, and the application of carpet protector. Your carpet should be vacuumed once or twice a week, and professional cleaning should take place before the carpet has visible soil. Cl

All of your carpet should be cleaned at least every 12 months. Carpet manufacturers require hot water extraction cleaning every 18 to 24 months to retain texture retention warranties.

Halloween Safety Tips

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Halloween is a fun and magical time for kids, but it’s also an important time to be extra vigilant for possible safety hazards so that your children will have a fun and safe Halloween. Here are a few tips to help make your Halloween safer:

  • Children should be well supervised by an adult.
  • Trick or Treat in groups.
  • Stick to well lit houses in familiar neighborhoods only.
  • Carry a flashlight.
  • Throw out candy or treats that are homemade, unwrapped or if they appear to have been tampered with.
  • Wear reflective or bright colored clothing. Many community businesses offer free reflective candy bags for trick or treating.

Diamond Grinding

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Stone that is etched, scuffed and scratched can be restored only by the use of mechanical abrasives underneath a rotary machine. Diamond abrasives resurface/remove a slight amount of stone (just enough to get below the etch marks and scratches). All diamond grinding is performed with the use of water to contain dust. The surfacing procedures that follow will determine the desired surface sheen.
